FSA Grand Prix

Well this is long in coming, But I have been able to get back to do a entry. Things started off a bit Slow with the Pursuit and got better the the Team pursuit, Me Jamie Strange love and Curtis Tolson and Adam. Rolled a 4:40 not bad for Marymoor. Then it was a quick trip home to get some food and Annette and strait back to the track for the evenings races which was not my favorite race the Kerin almost crashed but somehow held it up went into the rep and Won that in doing so I almost sat up to soon. Since I sat up as the pursuit line. In the final I can draw 1st spot evey time since I really don't want to have that spot. But this time it did workout for me. Cam came over in corner 2 and started the sprint going about 38 or so and then Steve also came over going down the back stretch and I rolled in for 3rd, Then it was a quick gear change and into the Miss & Out with this being my 2nd lest favored race with 38 or so guys on the track it was crazy and I wasn't paying attention to what as going on and was out VERY quickly and then I found out that my Madison Partner wasn't doing so well with a skipping heart beat so they told him not to race and I was on the hunt for a New partner. A guy from CMG from Portland named Steve also needed a partner at the last min. so we went for it. It was a Great race as 7 teams were on the same lap and racing hard and we ended up with 4th not too bad but I was hoping for more. With the evening program getting done just past midnight. Shit!!! that was a LONG night of racing with Little bit of sleep.

Day 2

Started off by getting thing in order for the nights racing since I didn't want to do the sprints and Curtis was heading home to get things checked out too make sure things with his heart beat were going to be O.K. Cost him $500 to get a one way ticket to get back to Kentucky. WOW not cheap. I get him to the airport then we head out to take care of a few things and then off to the track for the points race and scratch race.
Things started with the scratch race and were looking good with 3 or so laps to go I had a team mate from (Cody) my track team up the road. But just about the time I was thinking we had things under control Cam unleased his sprint and had a few guys in tow and blew by all by 1 of the guys up front and Jamie Strange love Won the race.
On to the points race it was Crazy having this many guys on the track as we had 44 or so for the scratch race and 38 or so for the points. things started off Cracken and I was working with front of the pack since my team mates didn't hold up there part of the deal in the first race I wasn't going to let this one slip. I started off getting points in the 3rd of 16 sprints and just kept piping points when I could. Lots of guys were in and out of the points. The only one that was doing a better job then me was the Aus guys from Rubicon Great Last name Pain! And that is what he was dishing out Pain and More Pain! But I ended up getting 16 points and Pain had 24 and Mat Johnson got 3rd with 14 So all in all not a bad weekend and I'm starting to get things rolling again.

Thanks for your time!

4th of July Bust!

Well I started off the long month of track racing with a Bang so to speak. We get into the springs (We as me and Jen Triplet) weather is Great and workout goes well and we get to see a few Jr. races. Tuesday starts off with a bang we have to be at the track early for registration for some DUMB reason I have to be there at 8:30 a.m. for a race that will start at 7 p.m. "But what ever" I regester and go home to get ready for racing later. After Warming up for about 45 min it starts raining & Raining & Rain some moreso they call the night of raing off so we will have a very long 4th of July of racing

Day 2

The day starts off at 5:30 and we are off and running we get in a good warm up for about 90 then head for the benches and wait till it's are turn to roll. We have about 3 hrs till it GO time. I get to watch the woman's racing with Jen doing the Kerin and points races. She learn a bit about how to lead out a race and then how to come from behind and how hard it is to set up for a sprint in the points race if you aren't in the right spot for the sprint. But a good start to her getting Faster. Then it's finally my turn to hit the track. OH NO!! It starts Raining again! Shit! So we go for a 3hr rain delay and now we are trying to get racing in and done in 3 to 4 hrs. It's starts raining VERY hard then hailing VERY HARD! As you can see from the pic's it was a little more of a delay then we wanted. But then the sky's parted and the track dried and WE started to race again, we started with a 40 lap Madison took a break for fireworks then came back for a 60 lap Madison watched a few more races then had a 5 mile race which I was hoping to do well but it just wasn't to be legs went dead when I went to hit the after burners and I fizzled in for a 5th place finish. Which if you know me I was NOT very happy with but after waiting all day I guess that is all I have. But I think in about 2 wks things will start to go better and faster for me.

Thanks for reading! Now off to Portland for some more track racing.

2 out of 3 not bad

Well yesterday didn't go totally to plan but the team worked better than ever and it was a pretty strong field. With about 45 min or so Brian Nelson of FRM and Aaron made a strong move off the front. The field tried to bring it back but only for one lap at a time, then would sit up and just roll around. The break made gains till it got about 35 sec and just started to hold there. Lang from (Axley) made a move with 4 laps to go, dangling for 2.5 laps. Then with with about 1 lap to go Chris D. of FRM jumped very hard and at the top corner I hit the front just to keep it rolling so we wouldn't get jumped. Coming out of the last corner Chad N. from (Axley) made a hard charge out of the last corner but I had just enough speed to hold him off for 3rd.

So Not bad result again with a 2-3 punch this time. But still holding are own and learning how to ride as a TEAM!

Track,Track & More Track

Well July is going to be a LONG month of track racing! I will be out of town just about every weekend except for the race we have at are own track.
The back is still not feeling great but I only feel like a 65 yr old man instead of the 95 yr old. man
I have the Crit going on today then a little motor work on the track for Sunday then I head out to the Spring for a UCI track race. Let just see how we are feeling.

The other good thing about going to the Springs is that I will be able to watch the last day of Jr. natz and see how are young guys are doing Ian & Grant are both going pretty fast if they are as smart as they are fast I think they will come home with a stars and Bars to ware for the year.

Now off to the races.

Time for another state Championship

So far this season, I have not done very well with the State races. But the team has won 2 of the and since there have only been 2. I think FRM is doing GREAT as a whole not just "Kenny's team!"
But YES, it's still my baby!

After just 2 laps of 7 last week a few different breaks came and went. Then the winning one went up the road with out me. But I had 2 teammates in it so I was good to go. I let Rob C. and couple of other guys go up the road and then I made my move. But once I got up to them they didn't want to work and somehow the whole group was coming up hard till I sat up. Then they just looked at me and were wondering if I would try again with the break only 35 sec. up. The answer was NO. I was just going to sit in for the rest of the day and see how my mates would work things out. Too my surprise they went 1st & 3rd a GREAT result for the FRM team and with Chris leading the BAR he is looking good to take the whole thing after only 2 races. But this weekend is the Crit so we will see how that all works out for us. As there have been a few guy riding well and with me off my game a bit the past few weeks it's hard for me to be a Big player. But you never know it is a crit (Well Sorta) and I like that type of race.

See you out at the Crit!

Turning 40 & Feeling old

Well, my turning 40 started off with a BANG! I was down in Venezuela with the U.S. Track team and having a Great time racing with the team. Brad Huffy & Colby Pierce( On the endurance side) and the rest of the team were great to hang out with, especially Jones i.e. Jennie Reed.

Then I got home and started racing like a Mad man. First Ski to Sea, Mt. Hood then it was the track since I left Hood early since I broke my bike and it was just to hilly for me at this time of the year with track starting.

But at STS I talked with Reed Pike and got hooked up with a New Pro Track team that will be starting in Oct. since track is now a winter sport. So this changed a lot of things for me since we will be traveling and trying to pick up some UCI points to race with the BIG YOUNG BOYS.

Then some how I got VERY sick with food poisoning or 24 hr Flu? Not sure what it was but not a good thing to have. After about 5 days I was feeling much better so started back training with a my normal gym workout. I normally spend 2 days a week keeping the body strong.

But it's amazing what can happen if you are not warmed up and ready to lift the weight that is on the bar!! You go from feeling like an athlete to feeling like you are 90 (and you are onely 40!)

So my back collapsed and now I have a strained back and can't stand up straight to save my life. That is until I went to see the man with needles and after about 20-30 needles in my back and legs I can now stand up again. SoI think it is a GREAT idea if I go out to the track and race. NOT the thing to do. But no one said I had to listen to my own advice. So I raced with only a little bit of discomfort since it was very cold out. I though it was SUMMER! we are out there racing in 55 degrees-- not loving it.

So the New kid on the block is Grant and last week he beat me for the first time. I was just thinking ok I was sick all week and not up to full speed for the whole night. Then he beat me in the first 2 races this Friday --again my excuse, I couldn't stand up straight this morning. He leaves this week for Jr. Natz. I think he is going as faster as he has ever gone. I think he has a good shot. Should bring home a title in something if not more then 1.( GOOD LUCK GRANT!!)

I'm not sure I'm ready for the changing of the guard just yet. But we will see if I have a choice or Not!

Sorry this was so long but I was overdue.

Thanks for your time!
